ENGR 100 Section of the Year

The ENGR 100 Section of the Year recognizes teaching teams doing an exceptional job of providing a taste of what it is to be a practicing engineer by simulating a real-world engineering environment where teamwork, communication, professional values, and creativity are keys to success. ENGR 100 teaching teams are nominated by current first-year students enrolled in ENGR 100. Nomination calls go out twice a year, at the end of the fall and winter terms.

Nominations for ENGR 100 Section of the Year are entirely initiated by ENGR 100 students

“I really love Prof. Chen’s teaching! He makes his lectures really engaging and he discusses CSE topics in such an enjoyable way that it really sparked interest in CSE in many of us. He’s great at explaining complex concepts as well and is always open to questions. Additionally, he and Prof. Walker were really supportive when my team was experiencing unforeseen problems, which all of us appreciate! The lab IAs (Jacob, Josh, and Sami) are all very approachable, fun, and are exceptional with the course topics. They’re the reason why we love coming to lab!”

“The teaching team has been fantastic at providing a warm environment for everyone to get their voice heard. Dr. Moore has such a great mindset of bringing in students to the experience, rather than just trying to lecture students. The GSI Anvay Pradhan was always willing to help any student with their struggles. I love how Ms. Lewis has kept a very calm environment when teaching tech comm because a passive voice, I think, is the best way of teaching young adults to develop their communication skills. Mr. Greenspan has also been great at keeping discussions focused on collaborating in teams, rather than the goal being to complete work.”
